The work is part of a series bearing the name of a fictional publisher: AtilisPress.

‘Atilis Press‘ plays with a specifically Czech art movement that was founded by Czech poets and painters in Paris around 1926. Jindřich Štyrský (1899-1942) and Toyen (Marie Čermínová 1902-1980) were among the founders of artificialism. They were interested in psychoanalysis, unconscious psychological processes and imaginative imagery. Biomorphic forms that float in their own space were motifs in the paintings of this group.

For Vladimir Houdek, these little-known works and theories from the 1920s are an important source of inspiration, which he continues in the current series and expands with a poetic textual level.
