In his drawing series 'The Surfaces' Nikita Kadan refers to the transformation of the city scape in his hometown Kyiv since the large billboards of mostly Western companies have started to occupy much of the historical facades. The images of consumerism are covering the buildings in the same style and in the actual positions of the advertisement as the monochromatic collages are inserted in the delicate handdrawings by the artist.
