'You used to fly, go everywhere and wake up those who are asleep (Qëndresa)' is a costume from the performance Shkrepëtima, Petrit Halilaj's most important intervention in a public space in 2018 in his hometown Runik. Shkrepëtima - a title that translates to something like ''spark'' or ''flash'' - is a project centered around the former House of Culture in Runik, a building that once served as the vibrant heart of the local community. The House of Culture, the only significant public structure in Runik to withstand the Kosovo War of 1998-99, remains standing, albeit in a ruined state. Closed in the 1990s amidst escalating political tensions in the region, it fell into neglect and decay.
With his theatrical performance involving more than hundred people including musicians, actors and residents of Runik, the artist undertook the ambitious task of reviving both the building and the community's spirit.
