Rhythms of Power, the first soloexhibition by Zofia Kulik in Austria is presented at Francisco Carolinum in Linz. The exhibition provides valuable insight into Zofia Kulik’s working methods. Almost all of her photographic compositions are produced in the darkroom, using an analogue process of multiple exposure to combine hundreds of single images.
The presentation reaches back to Zofia Kuliks very early works from the time she was still studying at the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw. It also shows large-format, multipart photomontages and a series of self-portraits from the 1990s and 2000s, and the series Patterns from 2008, which she created with the aid of computer software. Sketches, stencils and a film illustrate the complex process with which the artist creates her visual worlds.
'Splendour of Myself IV', 2005 from the Art Collection Telekom is on loan for the exhibition.
