The Serbian city of Subotica has had a typically European history. From 1542 to 1686, the city was under Ottoman rule. Belonged to the Kingdom of Hungary and Austria-Hungary, and, after the First World War, to the Kingdom of Serbs, Croats and Slovenes and, after the Second World War, to the Socialist Federal Republic of Yugoslavia.
The Contemporary Art Gallery is now showing a selection of works by Šejla Kamerić.
