Danica Dakić presents her project 'Missing Sculpture' within the frame of the exhibition series 'Sculpture 21st' at Lehmbruck Museum in Duisburg. The participative sculpture was conceived especially for the exhibition and relates to Wilhelm Lehmbruck and Joseph Beuys, both artists closely connected to the Lehmbruck Museum. Danica Dakić sees her work in a succession of generations and a reflection about the development of sculpture in the 21st century.
The project was realized with photographer and cameraman Egbert Trogemann, composer Bojan Vuletić, invited artists, the educational department of the museum as well as citizens from the city of Duisburg. An intense research process at the Lehmbruck archive and encounters with the citizens, explaining their relationship to the museum, led to an installation with a soundpeace and a floor drawing. The soundpiece combines the citizens personal accounts with quotations from Wilhelm Lehmbrucks correspondence. The floor dawing quotes sentences from Joseph Beuys from his speech on the occasion of the award ceremony of the Wilhelm-Lehmbruck-Preis 1986.
