The three pencil drawings are part of the series 'Cards' and are based on images from the Internet. They follow a strict conceptual approach. Lada Nakonechna used one working day for each of the drawings, 8 hours from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. The working hours were converted into the average wages valid for that day. The artist has applied this system for various countries, like Switzerland, Germany and Ukraine. The average daily wage for one hour of work has changed in Germany. On November 9, 2012 it was € 29, on March 20, 2013 it was only € 21. In the Ukraine on March 25, 2013 there were just 18 Ukrainian Hryvnia, the equivalent of around € 1.70.
We learn this from the titles of the drawings that are so classic and conventional. The rather banal landscape views create a direct relationship between the number of hours it took to make the drawing and the price paid for it as a work of art.
The fine sketches are far more than banal landscape drawings. They refer to the basic requirements of the global economy, the unbalanced wage levels in the different countries of the world.
