Agnieszka Polska uses cinematic storytelling and affective technologies to explore the ever-renegotiated relationship between humans and technology. She examines how this relationship is mutually influenced and legitimized through language, history, and consciousness. In particular, she is interested in the question of individual social responsibility against the backdrop of technologically induced disorientation and ideologies of technological determinism.

The film The Book of Flowers was created by reworking old time-lapse footage of plants using artificial intelligence. The visual source material consisted of 16mm archival footage from the 1940s and 1950s, which was reinterpreted using Stable Diffusion. This resulted in an entirely new cycle of images—without using a single original frame.

The voice of actress Tina Greatrex guides the viewer through a fictional shared history of humans and flowers. In the past, humans were the primary pollinators of flowering plants—both species depended on one another. Over time, humans developed technologies that made them independent of plants and led to the shrinking of flowers. Storytelling played a central role in this process.
