For the 18th High Line Art billboard, Małgorzata Mirga-Tas drew on a motif, a black and white engraving by Jacques Callot and Auguste Raffat from the 19th century, who often depicted Roma as dangerous and armed criminals travelling through the country on foot, on horseback or in a carriage with all their belongings.
‘Beyond the Horizon’ transforms the motif of the wandering group into a peaceful scene, colourful and varied. Full of hope, dignity and enthusiasm for life.
