Ukrainian artist Volodymyr Kuznetsov recalls the Holodomor, 'death by starvation,' the great famine in Ukraine that killed several million Ukrainians in 1932-33. The Soviet Union's Stalinist regime had enforced collectivization of agriculture and confiscated staple foods for export to finance armaments and industry.
In 2013, the artist's mural 'Koliivshina: Judgement Day' was painted over by the director of the Mystetskyi Arsenal because she feared it would be disruptive during the upcoming visit of then President Viktor Yanukovych.
