For the public program of Manifesta 10, which took place in St. Petersburg in 2014, Pavel Brăila realized a performance on the square in front of the Hermitage. 'The Golden Snow of Sochi' was also presented in a small refrigerator at Documenta 14 in Athens in 2017.
He graduated as an engineer from the Technical University of Moldova in Chișinău and came to art through detours. Further studies then led to the Jan van Eyck Academy in Maastricht, the Netherlands, and to Le Fresnoy in Tourcoing, France. Pavel Brăila's film project 'Shoes for Europe', which documents the change of axis of the railway from European to Russian gauge, was shown at Documenta 11 in 2002. In 2007 the artist was a guest of the DAAD Berlin artist program and showed the video installation 'Baron's Hill' in the Neue Nationalgalerie.
