About Lesia Khomenko

Lesia Khomenko is a co-founder of the curatorial Union HUDRADA, a self-educational community focused on interdisciplinary cooperation. She has been a member of the R.E.P. group since 2004, a collective formed in Kyiv during the protests of 2004’s 'Orange Revolution' and the fight for a democratic Ukraine. It met its eventual end in the complex and contradictory revolutionary reality of the 2013/14 Euromaidan demonstrations—the 'Revolution of Dignity.'

Through her involvement in these collaborative platforms, Lesia Khomenko fosters dialogue and the exchange of ideas, which deeply informs her artistic practice. Her work reflects her commitment to exploring the complex intersections of culture, identity, and history within the context of modern Ukraine.

The artist received her education at the National Academy of Art and Architecture in Kyiv, where she studied from 1998 to 2004, and the State Art Secondary School in Kyiv, where she was enrolled from 1991 to 1998. She was nominated for the Pinchuk Art Prize in 2009, 2011, and 2013, and for the Kazimir Malewitsch Award in 2012 and 2016.
