Two of Europe's oldest cities, Matera in southern Italy and Plovdiv in Bulgaria, are the European Capitals of Culture this year. From 4th April to 30th June art works from the Art Collection Telekom will be presented at various exhibition venues in Plovdiv.

The exhibition 'Listen To Us – Artistic Intelligence' with 70 works by 38 artists marks a culmination of the cultural events. The European Capital of Culture Plovdiv 2019 wants to point with the exhibition to the common history of the countries and the comparable life experiences of the people in the region and look beyond the national borders.
With its focus on Eastern and Southeastern Europe, just 30 years after the fall of the Iron Curtain, the art works in the exhibition provide many points of departure to reflect the still difficult period of transition from socialism to democracy.

The exhibition venues in Plovdiv offer an insight into the history of the city, ranging from one of the former warehouses of the tobacco industry, some historic houses of the Turkish old town, the municipal museum in the present city centre to the Vasov National Library, a masterpiece of socialist late modernism.
